We dont know.

Yes it does.

Doesnt anyone read threads anymore ? Cycrow is absent from the forum, no-one knows why or if/when he will be back.

For now, installing scripts works, albiet the program crashes under some conditions. Thats as far as it goes.

100,000 requests for it to be fixed, wont change anything.

Sorry to be blunt.

update....

If I delete the .08 cat and dat files it creates when you run it and then close it for the first time, I can then open and close it fine ONCE. Until I delete those files it will crash every time I close the program.

Hi noob question here...

I've downloaded the latest beta and had it installed. When I try to redirect the game directory, it claims it can't find X3.exe. What have I done wrong? I've retail DVD version with 1.4 patch. Thanks.

Silly question, read the user guide.
Theres a big button that says "install scripts."

You can manually browse to the X3 directory.

Star the program up from the start menu, instead of from an spk install.

Strange...

Regarding Cycrow, I wasn't even able to get to his website.

Did he have a fight with someone at Egosoft?

OR just major burnout?

Concerning the plugin-manager(PM), once you install the .spk plugin do you need to keep the PM for the .spk to continue to run ingame? I recieved my first ctd since installing 2.0 and since I only have one plugin running, it has to be the manager or the plugin. Anyhoo, thanks.

That doesnt necessarily follow. You would need to remove the script and see if the ctd still happens.

Plugin manager is just an external program, no effect on the game at all. It does create a mod, but in TC this isnt needed yet as the ship capability is missing from the program. So you can safely delete that.

Edit : All the plugin manager does, is move scripts from the pack into the scripts directory. Thats it. An spk is just another form of pack like zip, except designed especially for X3. So once its installed, you dont need the plugin manager program or the spk file at all.

wondering same thing... if he is finished, perhaps someone can take over the plugin manager because that is definitely a needed tool now that it is so ingrained and in use.

Now we really need someone to take over if Cycrow is no longer active... Where I could install X3R ships before, with the 2.0 patch, I am no longer able to do that.
Take it light.....

steam and scripts/script manager

Post by rcso » Fri, 10. Apr 09, 03:04

hey sorry I did do a search but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I had a hard copy of x3: reunion, but went with Steam and got X3: Terran Conflict tonight. I am trying to get back into using scripts but I have some issues. First and formost the script manager.

I installed it and it has a place where it 'looks' for steam exe's but, It isn't recognizing the installed game on my system. In that manager, what folder do I point it to to 'manually' recognize the x3 folder? Somewhere in the steam folders? That's where the game is installed right. Do scripts even work with the steam version?

Also, which folder should I put the .spk's at? There is no program files\egosoft\etc folder, where does this stuff go to work with steam?

Thanks.
