I'd not appreciated just for what an incredibly long time she'd been fighting breast cancer.

Yes, R.I.P. indeed.

Not surprising we missed this one, it's not exactly been widely publicised, but Oliver Frey, the guy who did all the illustrations and front covers for CRASH and ZZAP!64 magazines back in the 80s (so ought to be of interest to at least some people of a certain age) died last Monday aged 74. I well remember those front covers especially, there were some so risque that some shops at the time moved the magazine to the top shelf!

The only time I saw her, when I was a child and she visited New Zealand. The only thing I have against her, is once (again as a child) I was slapped by an usher in a movie theater for refusing to stand for "God save the Queen". Although I don't hold that against her, as it wasn't her literal hand that slapped me. I am sure she tried her best throughout many difficult times.

My she rest in peace.

Of some interest to this forum, I think: Valeri Polyakov, who spent the longest single stint in space (a 14 month session aboard the Mir space station back in 1994-95), died yesterday.

Great actress, seen her in many roles. I prefer to remember her in her role in the Court Jester. Great movie I recommend to watch. Comedy, Basil Rathbone, Cloak and Dagger, Romance and much much more. Did I mention Basil Rathbone?

Big Robbie Coltrane has passed away at 72.

I met him about 30 years ago when he came into the place I was working in at the time, and when I say big I mean the guy was big in all directions, but he was a nice guy who hadn't let fame get to him.

R.I.P. Robbie.

Yeah, shame that--guy had a great range as an actor. I mean, who else can you think of who equally successfully played a Bond semi-villain and a giant from a fantasy novel?
