Initial situation:
- v6.20
- Game is Vanilla (No Mods)
- It's a budgeted game start
- Save is about 6 in-game days old, but the problem has existed since the start of the game with my first guppy carrier and all other carriers.
- Problem occurs IS and OOS
- The carrier defends a position with a 40km radius
- A carrier ship with more fighters than dock slots is available (twice as many in my case)
- The fighters are set to intercept in several squadrons (Alpha, Beta, etc.)
- The fighters are each grouped. 2-3 fighters per group who are set to attack with the group leader.
Example:
Squadron Alpha - Intercept
Kukri
- Squadron Alpha - Attack
-- Kukri
-- Kukri

-- Mako
-- Mako

- Squadron Gamma - Intercept

What's going wrong?
- An enemy ship reaches the protection zone and is attacked and destroyed by the carrier's fighters. That's OK
- The ships then fly back to the carrier and should dock again.
The first wave of ships flies to the free docking areas, the rest simply stay in space. Stuck at the last enemy position. INCORRECT
When the first wave has docked, only 1 dock space is usually cleared and the ship there is moved into the inner carrier hangar. Then only one ship can dock. INCORRECT
- It can happen that no ship can dock at all and all remaining ships get "stuck" in space. That's the worst case. INCORRECT
- When more enemy ships appear, these ships no longer react because they want to dock before starting again. INCORRECT
What was expected?:
- Example:
20 ships assigned to the carrier and 10 dock slots available:
- 20 ships fly back completely into the carrier's vicinity after destroying the enemy.
- 10 ships dock immediately. The remaining 10 ships follow the carrier at close range.
- All 10 occupied dock spaces are cleared and the docked ships are moved to the internal hangar.
- The remaining 10 fighters near the carrier ALL dock immediately if a hangar space is available.
- If more enemies appear in the meantime, the docking process will be canceled and the fighters will be sent back on interception course.
This must also work when ships are grouped in order to be able to attack enemies in a concentrated manner. (nested assignment)
EDIT:
Workaround:
Don't use subgroups on carriers - Here's the mistake.
After I reset this, the docking worked again. However, that is certainly not the intention.
As a general rule, I don't upload save games. I don't use cloud storage.
I could do it if there was an option via the egosoft website.

Re: [BUG]: Carrier behavior is broken
This is a nice detailed report, but a savegame showing the situation would really help a lot. Instructions on how to provide one are at the top of the forum.
