7.00 Beta is actually pretty impressive so far.

Ok, so it obviously has its faults, which is why it's a beta, but it has a lot of decent stuff so far...

1. 3 X zoom magnifier which works real well and is very useful.
2. Rescues of stranded people. Nice.
3. Much better explosion effects of ships and lingering 'fires' (I assume it's some kind of super hot element able to burn in space).
4. A plethora of options I haven't been properly through yet. (I love options).
5. Engine `feels `improved and smooth... Can't quite quantify it yet.

I'm sure I've missed more.

And this is just the start since I usually putter about early and midgame as an exploring Merc for hire. I haven't gone near making fleets or mega bases.
I haven't seen anything dumb to be honest except for the bugginess (it's a beta like I already said).

Very good, so far, Egosoft Devs.
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens when enemy is close in numbers.
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time.

Whatever subtle secret sauce they've added to the lighting ... it brings the look of stations and ships almost on a par with the lighting/visuals of Elite Dangerous. I never thought I'd see the day.

This sounds great, how's the performance? Does it use more of the GPU than 6.x does? I have a 3060 12GB and it rarely uses more than 30% of my GPU. Would love to get more use out of it.

Its a bit better all round, noticeably so.
I have a 3060 6GB VRAM, and as you say its hardly used by this game engine .. thats always been the case with X Series games though, it always uses and needs a way more beefy CPU.

Large ship flight paths through gates. They no longer turn in weird directions after going through. Instead, they point in roughly the way they plan to go, boost away from the gate, then spool up the travel drive and go to the target.

They also go directly to the target. They don't stop half-way and re-calculate.

So make some detailled reports on each issue (in separate topics for each issue) on the beta forum ..
viewforum.php?f=192&sid=13df55a5e9e44ff ... 256b5df7a0
.. So that we all gain from your experience, and Egosoft will fix whatever your issues are.
